For the third year, Music Doing Good travels from Houston, Texas to Hope Town and Marsh Harbour, Abaco to perform two benefit concerts for Every Child Counts (ECC), which provides an alternative education for children with learning, developmental or physical disabilities (regardless of financial, family or social restraints). Lyn Major, Founder and Administrator of Every Child Counts remarks, “… because of Music Doing Good’s influence, we all have seen the difference in [the kids] since they have been working with the musicians – the power of a caring few is so amazing!”

It is a goal of Every Child Counts to maximize each child’s ability to become a productive, successful and independent citizen.

The theme behind “The Power of One” is that in order to effect positive change, it starts with an intent and action of just one person. And often times, the ripple effect of that intent or action creates a groundswell that galvanizes others to impact the lives of many. The musical repertoire for the concert reflects this theme and is created to evoke a sense of inspiration in the audience.

Iconic tunes from great artists such as John Lennon, Bob Marley, the Beatles and Cole Porter will be performed in addition to many original songs by Music Doing Good artists. Students from Every Child Counts will also perform several songs onstage with the artists. ECC students will also share their rendition of the Junkanoo with the guests.

Music Doing Good is a Houston-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that transforms lives by providing music experiences and education to underserved people and by fostering the talent of those served. In addition to concerts, Music Doing Good offers an instrument granting program, delivers afterschool music classes in Houston-area Title I schools, provides scholarships for middle and high schoolers, and one-on-one songwriting sessions—all with a focus on youth. The outreach programs use music to stimulate minds, open hearts and ignite imagination! Music Doing Good touches the lives of thousands of individuals annually as the organization strives to create a world where we all live in concert.
