New Date Set for Abaco Christmas Festival

“Christmas in the Bahamas” is this year’s theme for the very popular Abaco Christmas Festival that is slated for Saturday, December 8 from 11:00am – 10:00pm at BAIC Park in Marsh Harbour, Abaco.

For the past eight years, the festival committee and the Abaco Tourist Office have brought great enthusiasm and holiday cheer to the Abaco community during the yuletide season by presenting this annual event.   Organizers are expecting this year to be no different, as they anticipate and are planning yet another professionally produced and fun-filled festival that will showcase a wide range of entertainers, food booths, arts & crafts vendors, children activities and competitions.

Festival goers will be delighted to know that the Christmas Float Parade and the Dog Parade Contests that were both crowd pleasers in previous years, will be reintroduced.  However, to make these activities a huge success once again, organizers are encouraging locals and visitors to sign up now for the contests through the Abaco Tourist Office.  Cash prizes will be presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners and judging will be based on creativity and who can best execute the festival’s theme.

Other highlights at this year’s event will include the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Gift Presentation by Santa Claus, Junkanoo Parade, Holiday Gift Shopping and a host of other activities that will surely bring much joy and laughter to the families and friends in attendance.

All persons that are interested in becoming a vendor or wish to obtain further information on the upcoming festival can do so now by contacting the Abaco Tourist Office at (242) 367-3067.
