11am: Update 18

The center of Isaac is now crossing over the eastern end of Cuba and by appearances will spend a very short time over land. Presnetly the entire Bahamas is under a Tropical Storm Watch.

While most projection models show Isaac continuing it’s west-northwestward track, there is one model showing an extreme turn toward a more northward track which possibly brings Isaac through the Northern Bahamas. So while by most indications we are not in danger, we should watch closely over the next 24 hours.

8am: Update 1

Tropical Depression Nine has formed just east of the Leeward Islands and is expected develop into a hurricane within the next few days. At 8am the center was located at 15.1N, 51.0W moving west at 17kts with maximum sustained winds of 30kts (35mph) and a barometric pressure of 1007mb.

While the track is predicted to bear south of the Dominican Republic the range of probabilities include The Bahamas in their northernmost projections. The storm bears watching over the next week but the likelihood is that Abaco, and The Bahamas will remain out of harms way for this one.
