Contineo Massage Parlor
“Touch” is the meaning of the word Contineo and an appropriate name for the Massage Parlor recently opened by Sheryl Andrews next door to Abacom in Marsh Harbour. Andrews was introduced to the industry in 1997 when she attended a Shiatsu massage workshop-massaging using the feet- in Hope Town.
Since this massage form was not popular she did not get to use it. In 1999, she went to Nassau for two years to work at Atlantis. While there, she learned the art of Swedish massage. Due to her previous training, she was able to incorporate stretching, breathing and Shiatsu techniques in her work. When Andrews was first introduced to the field it was not as popular but now that many people work physical jobs and long hours she believes that massages are a necessity.
She decided to open her own business during the month of June. She practices two types of massages: Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage. She plans to offer additional techniques such as hot stone massage, body wraps, body scrubs and sea weed wraps in the near future. She wants the public to understand the importance of massages to balancing their yin and yang.
Andrews encourages persons to try a massage to relax or to relieve plan. She added that massages are not painful but rather therapeutic. At the end of a massage they will feel renewed and more balanced. Massage and wedding packages are available but she also offers stretching alone. She does house calls too but an appointment is needed. She offers basic manicure and pedicure too. Gift certificates will be coming on stream for the holidays. She is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Massages range from 50 to 90 minutes and can cost from $80 to $120 per session. Interested persons can call 436-0043.
