The Bahamas Telecommunication Corporation is in the process of going through a few major changes. A new customer service location is being built and a new technical manager has been hired for a period of at least three years.
On June 18, Trevor Turnquest moved from Grand Bahama to take-up the position of Bahamas Telecommunication Corporation Technical Manager for Abaco and the cays.
The new technical manager has behind him twenty-five years of experience with the telephone corporation.
With a few projects on his agenda, he says his first priority is “to make sure that all the networks are running properly, insuring internal and external customer access,” while at the same time overseeing the upgrading of the network to an eight megabit DSL. The upgrade will provide a much faster Next Generation Network.
The cellular service is also being upgraded from a 2.5G to a 4G network.
Turnquest said he is very excited about the new store located in the former building of the Royal Bank of Canada, which is to open in August. The store will be more strategically located for visibility and better access for customers. The former location will still house the technical buildings.
Turnquest plans to ensure that everyone is satisfied with the service of the Bahamas Telecommunication Corporation.
Settling rapidly on the island, Turnquest is already exploring the possibility of joining a local service club to integrate himself and contribute to some of the community needs.
